How can you explain Present simple easily?
Present simple tense
We will talk today about present simple tense, but first do you know what “tense” means?
tense is a form of a verb which shows the time at which an action happens; It comes from the Latin word “tempus”, which means “time”.
we will start by talking about positive form of present simple and from its name we will simplify it for our kids:)))
Note that: when you use colors, it will hellp to child to have fun and remember quickly
I like English
you like English
we like English
They like English
she likes English
he likes English
i like my cat, it plays with me
when verb to have comes in present simple tense, it will be like following:
i have a book
you have a book
we have a book
they have a book
she has a book
he has a book
it has a dog
when verb to be comes in present simple tense, it will be like following:
i am a teacher
you are a teacher
we are teachers
they are teachers
she is a teacher
he is a teacher
it is a dog
so, we will add s or es to the verb if it comes with he , she, or it but when we add es instead of s?!
When a verb ends with s, ch, sh, x or z, we add the letter e, and then we add the letter s; for example: miss becomes misses
kiss becomes kisses
buzz becomes buzzes
watch becomes watches
teach becomes teaches
wash becomes washes
push becomes pushes
mix becomes mixes
fix becomes fixes
Also, When a verb ends with o, we add the letter e, and then we add the letter s, for example
go becomes goes
do becomes does
When a verb ends with y, and there is a constant ( the constant is any letter except vowels and the vowels are five letters which are a, i, e, o, u) before it, the y changes in to ie . Then the letter s is added, for example:
fly becomes flies
try becomes tries
study becomes studies
cry becomes cries
When do we use present simple tense?!
-
when we talk about things that happen repeatedly or habitually , we often use time expressions such as always, often, sometimes, usually, seldom, on Saturdays, rarely, never, every day, etc.(العادات و الأعمال التي نقوم بها باستمرار ) for example:
i go to school everyday.
he always forget his key.
she usually stars her work at 8 o’clock.
-
when we talk about permanent or long-lasting situations, for example:
i work in a bank.
Ahmed lives in Cairo.
-
when we talk about people or things in general, for example:
Nurses work in hospitals.
Football is the most popular sport in the world.
Sun rises in the east
-
to indicate general truths, facts and scientific laws, for example:
Earth is spherical.
Cairo is the capital of Egypt.
-
when we talk about travel plans and timetables (mainly with verbs such as go, leave, arrive, start, come, return etc, for example:
The course starts next Thursday.
my train leaves at 6 o’clock
-
with state verbs such as like, dislike, love, think, seem, look, know, feel, understand, want, need, hate, remember, forget, prefer, believe, mean, taste, hear, see, have(when the meaning is “possess”), own, belong, etc., for example:
I think she is a wonderful person.
That bicycle belongs to me.
Do you believe in fate?
my sister has a new car.
-
to give instructions/directions, for example:
Walk down the street to the corner and then turn right.
I hope that i have simplified the lesson to you, and i hope it helps you in studying with your little angles
Any way, do not forget if you want to ask any question just leave a comment and i will reply as soon as i can ✿◠‿◠
Hello, it’s me!!
Al salam alykom
I am a parent who finds raising up our children is not an easy mission, so i think i’d like to participate with you my experience in dealing with children and being a teacher for not a short period where i worked as a computer teacher in two schools before, but i couldn’t achieve my ambitions in teaching because mainly a lot of schools deal with computer as a neglected subject, so i think i will use this blog to achieve them by making my students practice well by using sheets which will be posted soon.
Although i used to be a computer teacher, i am interested in other subjects like math, Arabic and tajweed so may be from time to time you will find a sheet or an explanation for lessons in any subject. .
If you have any question about anything, it will be great to answer you; i do not pretend that i have the answer of everything but trust me i will do my best efforts to help you to be a good teacher to your children en shaa Allah.
I ask Allah to protect our children and make them good persons in future.
